Note: Deep cycle batteries are NOT suitable for use in automotive starting applications. Automotive starter batteries should also not be used in energy storage applications, as this may cause premature failure.
All lead-acid products share the following features:
- Output voltage: 12V DC
- Standby (float) charging voltage: 13.50-13.68V
- Cycle charging voltage: 14.40-14.80V
- Max. charging current: 0.1C-0.25C (C is the battery’s rated capacity in Ah)
- Lifetime: 400 -1200 cycles
Note: With respect to the cycle lifetime, the practical life of the battery may vary widely. With occasional use (and rarely discharging below 30%), the life span may reach 3-5 years. For frequent use and regular deep discharge (<10%), the practical life may be as short as a few months.
Lead-acid batteries are also further degraded if they are not fully recharged before discharging begins. Always ensure the battery is recharged fully immediately after discharge.
General warnings:
- Never short circuit battery terminals.
- Keep batteries away from high temperatures and open flames.
- Lead acid batteries should only be charged in an area with good ventilation.
- Always use a charger/charge controller which is compatible with your battery’s chemistry. Failure to use compatible equipment may damage the battery and void the warranty.
