Description
Typical applications:
- Solar power system
- Home backup UPS system
- Camping/recreational
Features:
- Input: Direct current (DC) -see specific variant for input voltage
- Output: 220-240V AC @ 50-60Hz
- SANS 164-compatible (standard 3-pin plug) output interface
Note: When you switch them on, devices with a large electric motor or transformer (such as refrigerators and microwaves) exhibit transient (very brief) power demand which is much higher (2-3 times) their rated power. This phenomenon is called inrush or switch-on surge. It is not usually noticeable when connected to mains power (it can cause fluorescent lights to flicker), but inrush surge can cause an overload condition if the transient demand exceeds an inverter’s peak power output.
Inverters have varying abilities to handle inrush surge before their overload protection is triggered. If you intend to power a fridge, microwave or other device containing a motor or transformer, choose an inverter whose power output is well above (ideally more than double) the rated power demand of your device.
General warnings:
- Do not attempt to combine multiple inverters in the same circuit. Inverters cannot be connected in parallel or series, unless specifically designed with that feature.
- Inverters generate heat during normal operation. Ensure you do not cover any ventilation channels, cooling fans or heatsink surfaces.
- For powering sensitive equipment (eg electronics, motorised devices), a pure sine inverter is strongly recommended. Simulated sine input may interfere with normal operation of such devices.
- Indoor/sheltered use only. DO NOT EXPOSE TO RAIN.
